Twilight cast bids farewell at final premiere

3:20 AM |

Thousands of screaming fans lined the black carpet late on Monday for the final "Twilight" film premiere as the cast of "Breaking Dawn - Part 2" bid farewell to the franchise and its loyal followers.

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and other cast members greeted fans known as "Twi-hards," many of whom had camped out for days in downtown Los Angeles to catch a glimpse of their favorite actors and see the film before it is released in theaters on Friday.

Breaking Dawn - Part 2 will see the love story of human Bella Swan (Stewart), vampire Edward Cullen (Pattinson) and werewolf Jacob Black (Lautner) come to a tantalizing end, when Bella and Edward are forced to protect their child from an ancient vampire coven.

Stewart, who was finally able to embrace her wild side by playing Bella as a vampire, hoped people would enjoy the ultimate transformation of her character in the film.

"Bella has worked pretty hard to get to the point where they can have it all, and it's fun to be there. She's always been human, but now that she's not, you're just in full blown vampire land and it feels funny in a great way," Stewart told Reuters.

More than 2,200 fans from all over the world came to camp out on a concrete plaza in downtown Los Angeles last week, where Twilight movie studio Summit laid out activities and marathon screenings of the previous movies.

All of the film's main actors spent time signing autographs and posing for photographs with the loyal fans who had camped out in chilly November weather over five days.

Pattinson, who plays vampire Edward Cullen, said he hoped the fans would like the franchise's swan song.

"I hope they feel it kind of respects them, because I think in a lot of ways that's what we were thinking when we were making it," the actor said.

Lautner, who plays werewolf Jacob, said he'd be sad to say goodbye to the films and his character and hoped fans would be happy with the conclusion of the final film.

"I'm feeling fantastic, sad, emotional, there's a lot of things going on inside of me right now but I'm just trying to soak up every moment because this means the world to me," Lautner said.

The three lead stars were joined by fellow cast members including Nikki Reed, Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone, Michael Sheen and Dakota Fanning, as well as director Bill Condon and author Stephenie Meyer, whose Twilight novels kicked off the franchise and phenomenon.

Meyer said she would miss watching the three lead cast members evolve as actors and characters in the films.

"It's really been great to watch them grow up, particularly Kristen because her character gets to evolve so much in this film, and to watch her be all powerful and really get to where the character was always meant to go, to be the fiercest of the fierce, was really rewarding for me," the author said.

Golconda diamond fetches $21.5 mln

2:49 AM |

A huge, internally flawless diamond from India's fabled Golconda mines was sold at auction in Geneva on Tuesday night for a record 20.355 million Swiss francs, Christie's said.

The rare, colourless stone weighing 76.02 carats, and roughly the size of a large strawberry, once belonged to Archduke Joseph August of Austria (1872-1962), a prince of the Hungarian line of the Habsburgs.

Its pre-sale estimate was 15-to-25 million Swiss francs and it fetched more than double the price paid for it at auction almost two decades ago.

"It is a world record for a Golconda diamond and a world record price per carat for a colourless diamond," Francois Curiel, director of the international jewellery department at Christie's, told reporters.

The previous record was held by the "Beau Sancy", a pear-shaped diamond of 34.98 carats, sold by rival Sotheby's for 9 million Swiss francs last May.

"The market is not on the best form at the moment. The sale tonight was almost flabbergasting," Curiel said.

He added that the buyer, who bid by telephone, wished to remain anonymous, but said the last bidder to drop out of the sale was Fred Mouawad, an international dealer with offices in Dubai, the Middle East and Geneva.

The seller was Black, Starr & Frost, an American jeweller founded in 1810 and based in California.

"My understanding is that this stone is going to a museum and it will probably be the centrepiece," Black, Starr & Frost's chairman Alfredo Molina told Reuters in the Geneva saleroom.

Diamonds and gemstones are a safe refuge for investors in difficult economic times, he said. "There is a crisis and people don't trust governments and banks. Paper money is a depreciating asset," he added.

The diamond was the star lot at Christie's semi-annual jewellery sale in Geneva, which fetched 76.6 million francs, with 290 of 348 lots sold. HEATED BIDDING

Nineteen lots went for more than $1 million each, the auction house said in a statement. They included a brooch with a Ceylon sapphire weighing 60.44 carats, surrounded by diamonds, that went for 1.7 million francs, more than three times its estimate.

The bidding for the Archduke Joseph diamond opened at 8 million Swiss francs but the price swiftly rose amid heated telephone bidding.

Historical diamonds originating in the Golconda mines, virtually exhausted by the 18th century, include the Koh-i-Noor, now in the British crown jewels, and the blue Hope Diamond, part of the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C.

"The Archduke Joseph Diamond is the finest and largest perfect Golconda diamond ever to appear at auction. It is comparable in its noble lineage and superb quality to the legendary Koh-i-Noor," Rahul Kadakia, head of Christie's jewellery for the Americas and Switzerland, said in a statement.

In 1933, records show the Archduke deposited the stone in the vault of the Hungarian General Credit Bank.

"Three years later it was sold to a European banker, and kept in France, locked away in a safe deposit box, where fortunately it remained undiscovered during World War Two," the auction house said.

Decades later it surfaced at auction in 1961 and again at Christie's in November 1993, netting 9.7 million Swiss francs, equivalent to $6.5 million at the time, the auction house said.

The stone was subsequently "slightly recut". Christie's is privately held by French billionaire Francois Pinault.

Michael Jackson's Assistant Sues AEG

2:40 AM |

Michael Jackson's personal assistant Michael Amir Williams has filed a class action lawsuit against concert promoting company AEG, ET has learned.

In court documents obtained by ET, Williams alleges that he and the crew hired for the This is It tour lost out on wages after Jackson's death.

As Dr. Conrad Murray (who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in Jackson's case) was reportedly hired and supervised by AEG, the papers go on to ask for unspecified damages from the company.

According to the filings, the plaintiff claims that AEG agreed to pay the crew "up to $7.5 million" for the tour prior to Jackson's passing.

Selena Gomez is moving on after splitting with Justin Bieber

2:17 AM |

Newly single Selena Gomez is getting on with her life after splitting with superstar Justin Bieber, her boyfriend of nearly two years -- and if her ear-to-ear grin is any indication, she's doing just fine, thank you very much.

On Monday, Nov. 12, the 20-year-old "Love You Like a Love Song" singer walked the red carpet at Glamour's 22nd Annual Women of the Year Awards in New York City, where a source tells Us Weekly she looked "radiant and very happy."

Wearing a white, knee-length Giambattista Valli frock with a deep V-neck and a peplum waist, the Wizards of Waverly Place actress playfully vamped for the cameras.

"She was smiling and laughing between photos and really having a good time posing for the photographers," the witness says of the star, adding that she seemed "bubbly and upbeat" giving interviews. "She looked genuinely happy...not like she was sad or bummed out at all."

Indeed, the December cover girl could barely contain her excitement as she accepted her Woman of the Year award from the magazine.

"I am so honored to be in a room full of women that I can only aspire to be as good as they are one day," she gushed of her fellow attendees, among whom were Chelsea Clinton, Chelsea Handler, Lena Dunham, gymnast Gabby Douglas, and screen legend Lauren Hutton. "I feel so lucky that every day I get to work with interesting people that are way smarter than me, that have taught me so much

"I just want to share with all the girls out there -- you have a voice, you have a chance," she continued. "Just do what you love, whether it's acting or singing and just being true to who you are. The person who has taught me that is my mom. She's so strong and beautiful and has taught me everything."

Sexy Madonna Bares Butt to Raise Money for Hurricane Sandy Relief

1:42 AM |

Madonna on stage
Performing at Madison Square Garden on Monday, Nov. 12, the "Give Me All Your Luvin'" singer asked fans to give her something else -- cold hard cash.

But the money wasn't for her. It was for the victims of Hurricane Sandy in New Jersey and New York, where the Material Girl had spent some time earlier in the week.

"I went down to Rockaway Beach yesterday with my children, and we saw what was going on there, we saw the destruction," the 54-year-old mother of four said. "It was really sad, but we also saw amazing acts of humanity. People sharing with other people, people working hard, cleaning houses, handing out food, blankets, giving love."

The superstar then announced that she'd be helping in her own way -- by stripping. Taking off her top to reveal the words "No Fear" written on her back, she encouraged the audience to throw money at the stage as she performed a slowed-down version of "Like a Virgin."

"If you are going to look at the crack of my a--, you better raise some cash!" she yelled at her adoring fans, who responded by showering her with bills.

Of course, Madge isn't the only star putting her talents to charitable use. Other celebs are getting in on the Sandy action, too.

EEDRIS CALLS OBASANJO A ‘MUGU’

7:00 PM |
Eedris Adbulkareem

Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem has called Olusegun Obasanjo’s a ‘Mugu’ after the former president recently criticized him for recording his 2004 hit song ‘Jaga jaga’.

Obasanjo while speaking at a forum organized by Nigeria Leadership Initiative (NLI) on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, recalled Abdulkareem’s 2004 hit track ‘Jaga jaga’ sayng that the KENNIS Music rapper doesn’t believe in the future of the country.

Apparently angered by Obasanjo’s statement, Abdulkreem took to micro-blogging site Twitter to bear his mind out.

Eedris called OBJ his ‘joy therapy’, stating it is obvious ‘Obasanjo can’t do without him’

‘It’s obvious that Obasanjo can’t do without me. I’m his joy therapy. Mr expresident, Nigeria still dey jagajaga infact worst pass jagajaga‘, @idris_Abdulkarm tweeted.

He then called Obasanjo a Boko Haram member challenging him to let ‘Goodluck rule in peace’.

‘President Obasanjo if you trully love Goodluck as u claimed why dont you talk to your fellow boko haram member to let Goodluck rule in peace’.

Eedris didn’t stop there as he then went on to call the PDP leader a ‘mugu’, ‘Mr expresident, I heard you were talking about me in ur last interview hahahahahhahah its obvious you cant do without me.you are my mugu. Obasanjo na my mugu oooo na jeje i dey, u dey look for trouble oooo…. hahahahahhahahahahhahahah’.

‘Mr ex president, u be my mugu!’, he added.

Eedris says he is inspired and will be hitting the studio to record a new song titled ‘Obasanjo na my friend’.

‘Watchout for my new single Obasanjo na my friend…Obasanjo, thank you for making me a star infact talk more about me. I’m inspired!!‘, he tweeted.

Eedris Abdulkareem who recently claim to be the reason artistes like D'Banj, P-Square and others were getting paid today.

This statement has highly been reacted to by many, who have had mixed feelings and reactions to it, believed it was uncalled for by the Kennis Music artiste to have said such. Some felt it was just a publicity stunt by Eedris to remain relevant in the news.

Reacting to Eedris' statement was Don Jazzy. The Mavin Records boss tweeted, "But I won't put it exactly like that. I think what he (Eedris) meant was [that] guys like him, our father 2baba, Tetuila, Eldee etc inspired us to join the game (music industry).

"So, if they didn't inspire us to join the game, we won't be getting paid. True, baba (Eedris) tuale.

I used to mime 'Shako Mo', 'Belinda' and 'Omode Meta Sere' [while] in secondary school. So, baba (Eedris) has the right to yarn (talk) anything o."

However, Don baba J, as the multiple award-winning music producer is fondly called did a joke on Wizkid when jokingly tweeted afterwards on being respected by Wizkid as he has done to 2Face, Eedris and others.

He tweeted, "that been said, 'oya', Wizkid, anyday you don't 'tuale for me', when I see you 'ehnnnnn', I go 'wozzzzzzz (slap)' you 22 slaps. lol."

Lil Wayne finally released Dedication 4 mixtape

5:39 PM |

After some delays, Lil Wayne finally released Dedication 4, the fourth mixtape in a series of albums on which the YMCMB boss raps over the hottest tracks.

"Usually, I kill all the hot songs that's out," Weezy told Mixtape Daily last month about Dedication 4, according to MTV News. "But I'm on all the hot songs that's out. So now I have nothing to kill." In 2007, Wayne released Da Drought 3 mixtape, which was acclaimed by critics and ranked No. 27 on Rolling Stone's "Top 50 Albums of 2007" list.

"Dedication 4" is free for all Lil Wayne fans and features the likes of Nick Minaj, Birdman, J. Cole, Young Jeezy and Lil Mouse. The YMCMB rapper had been tweeting to fans about the album, calling it "stuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuupid," but those who listened to Wayne's newest release are not fawning over Dedication 4 just yet.

Lil Wayne 'Dedication 4' Mixtape: 10 Most Laughable Lyrics

Kendall Marshall

Sooo D4, 1) I think it's safe to say Wayne is NOT back 2) JCole had the hardest verse on the album 3) Where the hell are Lil Mouse' parents?

Ryan Conrad

I'd love to hear a Lil Wayne song without him using any metaphors.. He wouldn't even know what to say

Kareem Elgawly

Idk what to think of Lil Wayne anymore.

J'Real™

Lil wayne remixed Lil Mouse (13 year old gangster rapper) song. I no longer support NOTHING lil wayne does.

Some particular songs on Dedication 4 have caused quite the melee.

Nicki Minaj's verse on "Mercy" about voting for President Romney in November had many thinking that the Harajuku Barbie had endorsed the Republican candidate. Minaj has neither confirmed nor denied the speculation.

Another point of contention with Wayne's album is his featuring Lil Mouse on the remix of "Get Smoked." The 13-year-old rapper's raunchy lyrics have raised eyebrows. The teen, from Chicago's South Side, raps about sex, violence and drug selling, amongst other non-age-appropriate subjects. Lil Wayne is already being criticized for teaming up with Lil Mouse, according to MissInfo.tv.

Here are some of the most laughable lyrics from Lil Wayne's Dedication 4.
10. She’s so sophisticated / She'll catch a n---a nut and then refrigerate it
9. And ya’ll borin’, I don’t play n---a, I’m Mark Madsen / Thats why my knots thick like a f---ing Kardashian
8. Heavy load, throwing hella bands, in the club doing the money dance (Lil Mouse)
7. That's no lie, I'm so hot, you p---y ass n---as Massengill / I got them yellow Xanax, I slipped on a banana peel
6. Trukfit money Mountain Dew money, tell em / I get better like fine wine I'm fire like cayenne
5. Swish Michael, Phelps n---a in your ho / Coupe the color of YooHoo, rude boy free Buju
4. Pow, there go my hammer / Come around here stuntin', get jacked like O'Lantern
3. I beg your pardon, I egg your noggin, got nine up in my glove compartment
2. Hey baby let's make a porn! / Ba-bum! Devil horns
1. I'm a Republican voting for Mitt Romney / You lazy bitches is f--king up the economy (Nicki Minaj)

Charles Manson On Vinyl: Store Owner Selling Convicted Murderer's Never-Before-Released Prison Guitar Recordings

5:26 PM |

A new record of Charles Manson's bluesy guitar songs from prison is for sale, thanks to the help of Kickstarter.

After Manuel Vasquez, the co-owner of a small independent music store in Los Angeles, was "encouraged" by the infamous mass murderer and cult leader to produce recordings on vinyl, he turned to the Internet to raise the thousands he needed to produce the records.

"This project is not about death, drugs, 1969, etc ... It is about MUSIC," Vasquez wrote on the fundraiser page.

After raising $4,099 — $99 over his goal — Vasquez is selling 500 records that he himself pressed out of his Hollywood store, which is reportedly located close to where Manson and his cult members went on a murder spree in 1969 that left eight people dead. Kickstarter donors are listed in the liner notes.

At 40 minutes long, Vasquez told the LA Times that most people "won't like" 12 singles (interspersed with poetry and commentary) and that it's "probably an acquired taste." The front cover is a sketch of Manson done by one of his fellow inmates while the back cover is a large geometric drawing by Manson.

A YouTube video includes one of the songs featured on the album, the first verse of which goes as follows:

If this prison yard could talk,
What a story could be told,
Of the things I'd seen that would make,
A strong man's blood run cold.

Though the production and sale of the record is controversial — even Vasquez's parents say they don't understand why he'd want to align himself with Manson — he claims that Manson has more to say.

"I usually tell people that the perspective they have of Manson is what he was convicted for in 1969, not for what he became in prison," Vasquez told the Times, "He is somebody who is obsessed with ecology and saving the earth, the environment and animals. Life is his obsession, not death."

In 2011, Manson went on record to say that global warming is a major threat to the planet.

"If we don’t change that as rapidly as I’m speaking to you now, if we don’t put the green back on the planet and put the trees back that we’ve butchered, if we don’t go to war against the problem," said Manson.

Manson reportedly receives no payments or royalties from the sale of the records, nor has he from any recording released by others in the past.

"It's all about spreading awesome to the world that's never been heard," said a girl in the video for Vasquez's Kickstarter.

"We're helping him out," she added.

Michael Clarke Duncan dead at 54 after July heart attack

5:18 PM |
"The Green Mile"

Michael Clarke Duncan was one big, irresistible jumble of contradictions.

His presence was formidable, even intimidating: The former bodyguard had a muscular, 6-foot-4 frame, but it was topped by the brightest of megawatt smiles.

His gravelly baritone was well-suited to everything from animated films to action spectacles, but no matter the role, a warmth and a sweetness was always evident underneath.

The prolific character actor, whose dozens of movies included an Oscar-nominated performance as a death row inmate in "The Green Mile" and box office hits including "Armageddon," `'Planet of the Apes" and "Kung Fu Panda," died Monday at age 54. And although he only turned to acting in his 30s, it's clear from the outpouring of prayers and remembrances he received across the Hollywood and sports worlds that his gentle-giant persona made him much-loved during that relatively brief time.

Duncan died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he was being treated for a heart attack, said his fiance, reality TV personality Rev. Omarosa Manigault, in a statement released by publicist Joy Fehily.

Duncan "suffered a myocardial infarction on July 13 and never fully recovered," the statement said. "Manigault is grateful for all of your prayers and asks for privacy at this time. Celebrations of his life, both private and public, will be announced at a later date."

Tom Hanks, star of 1999's "The Green Mile" — the film that earned a then-little-known Duncan a supporting-actor nomination at the Academy Awards — said he was "terribly saddened at the loss of Big Mike. He was the treasure we all discovered on the set of `The Green Mile.' He was magic. He was a big love of man and his passing leaves us stunned."

"I will miss my friend, Michael Clarke Duncan," comedian and talk-show host Steve Harvey said on Twitter. "What an incredible soldier in God's Plan." Other sad and shocked reactions came from a diverse field that included Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, actresses Alexa Vega, Niecy Nash and Olivia Munn, and former boxing champion Lennox Lewis.

In the spring of 2012, Duncan had appeared in a video for PETA, the animal rights organization, in which he spoke of how much better he felt since becoming a vegetarian three years earlier.

"I cleared out my refrigerator, about $5,000 worth of meat," he said. "I'm a lot healthier than I was when I was eating meat."

Duncan had a handful of minor roles before "The Green Mile" brought him accolades and fame. The 1999 film, based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, starred Hanks as a corrections officer at a penitentiary in the 1930s. Duncan played John Coffey, a convicted murderer with a surprisingly gentle demeanor and extraordinary healing powers.

Duncan's performance caught on with critics and moviegoers and he quickly became a favorite in Hollywood, appearing in several films a year. He owed some of his good fortune to Bruce Willis, who recommended Duncan for "The Green Mile" after the two appeared together in "Armageddon." Duncan would work with Willis again in "Breakfast of Champions," `'The Whole Nine Yards" and "Sin City."

His industrial-sized build was suited for everything from superhero films ("Daredevil") to comedy ("Talladega Nights," `'School for Scoundrels"). He could have made a career out of his voice work alone, with appearances in several animated and family movies, including, "Kung Fu Panda," `'Racing Stripes" and "Brother Bear." Among Duncan's television credits were "The Apprentice," `'Two and a Half Men," "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody" and a new series, "The Finder."

Born in Chicago in 1957, Duncan was raised by a single mother whose resistance to his playing football led to his deciding he wanted to become an actor. But when his mother became ill, he dropped out of college, Alcorn State University, and worked as a ditch digger and bouncer to support her. By his mid-20s, he was in Los Angeles, where he looked for acting parts and became a bodyguard for Will Smith, Jamie Foxx and other stars. The murder of rapper Notorious B.I.G., for whom Duncan had been hired to protect before switching assignments, led him to quit his job and pursue acting full-time.

Early film and television credits, when he was usually cast as a bodyguard or bouncer, included "Bulworth," `'A Night at the Roxbury" and "The Players Club."

Michael Jackson copyright dispute settled

5:15 PM |
Michael Jackson - Thats it

Michael Jackson's estate settled a copyright dispute with a business partner of the late pop icon's mother Tuesday, just before a trial on the matter was to begin, lawyers said.

A federal judge had already ruled that Howard Mann and several associated companies violated Jackson's copyrights, which are controlled by his estate executors, and the only question for a jury was how much should be paid in damages.

The settlement, which gives the estate $2.5 million from the several companies involved, ends a bitter two-year fight between the estate and Mann, who partnered with Katherine Jackson on the book.

"In light of the court's rulings for the estate on summary judgment, this settlement seems appropriate for all concerned," estate lawyers Howard Weitzman and Zia Modabber said in a statement to CNN Tuesday.

Mann's company published Katherine Jackson's 150-page coffee table book "Never Can Say Goodbye, The Katherine Jackson Story" two years ago and established a website -- MichaelJacksonSecretVault.com -- that the estate argued illegally used Jackson's images and lyrics.

"This was a long, complex and difficult litigation that in the end will likely be equitable for Mrs. Jackson and the other parties involved," Mann said. "This settlement would not have been possible without Perry Sanders (Katherine Jackson's lawyer), who worked to bridge quite a distance."

"My client and all parties involved are served well by getting this wrapped up," said Sanders, who helped mediate the settlement this week.

Mann's involvement with the Jacksons began when he partnered with Henry Vaccaro, who bought a large amount of Jackson memorabilia purchased at an auction after Katherine and Joe Jackson's 1999 bankruptcy. A lien will be placed on those photos and other assets until a portion of the settlement is paid, a lawyer said.

Katherine Jackson was not a defendant, but her name and those of her husband, Joe Jackson, and children Janet, Randy, Tito and Jermaine Jackson were on the defense witness list.

The estate accused Mann of "wholesale misappropriation" of Michael Jackson copyrights and acting with "arrogant disregard" for the estate's rights by using unauthorized images.

While the estate claimed the book sold about 25,000 copies for $1.5 million in the first two days, Mann's lawyers contended "actual sales are very minimal and the defendant's businesses have suffered a major net loss."

The copyright violations also included screen shots from the "This Is It" documentary about the singer's last days and other "misappropriated" images, including Jackson's "Smooth Criminal Lean," which Mann's company used in its corporate logo.

Mann's website, which the judge already ordered to be taken offline, "does absolutely everything in its power to suggest to its visitors that it is the hub for all things Michael Jackson, and that it is sanctioned and supported by the estate, when in fact it is neither," the estate argued.

She didn't cheat on me: Seal Clarified

4:56 PM |

Seal and his ex wife Heidi
Seal wasn't entirely clear on what he meant when he told TMZ that he wished his ex Heidi Klum wouldn't "fornicate with the help," and now the singer has some explaining to do.

TMZ photographers caught up with Seal on Friday and asked him how he felt about the rumors that Klum's now dating her bodyguard following her January split from Seal.

Removing his sunglasses, Seal replied that while it's commonplace for a separated couple to move on - and while he certainly doesn't "expect Heidi to all of a sudden become a nun" - he did think that she "would've shown a little bit more class and at least waited until we separated first before deciding to fornicate with the help, as it were." He then added, "but I guess you all now have the answer you were looking for for the past seven months." Hmm ... so did Seal's split from Klum have something to do with her "fornicating with the help"? It sounds like that's what he meant, but apparently the singer was a bit tongue-tied. A rep for Seal tells CNN that his words were "misconstrued."
"Seal would like to clarify that he was not implying his wife was cheating while they were together, but he was merely pointing out that their separation and divorce were not final and they are still legally married," his rep said in a statement. For her part,

Klum's also denied allegations that she stepped out during her seven-year marriage to the "Kiss From a Rose" singer. "It is sad that Seal had to resort to this kind of behavior and spread these untruths about the mother of his children," Klum's rep told Us Weekly. The model and TV personality added in a statement to CNN, "I cherish all of the great memories Seal and I created together over the years. Our separation was based on issues between the two of us. Seal has moved on and so have I. My priority has and continues to be protecting and providing for our children." Klum, who separated from Seal in January, filed for divorce in April.

Steve Harvey, the 'King of All Media?'

4:39 PM |
Steve Harvey

Watch out Howard Stern, it looks like Steve Harvey is angling for the title of "King of All Media." Both outspoken men have much in common, including being unabashed divorcees, best-selling authors whose books were turned into hit movies ("Private Parts" and "Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man," respectively) and hosts of no-holds-barred radio shows heard throughout the nation. But when it comes to TV, Harvey just may have the leg up. e going to have great take-aways about medical and weight, dieting, parenting, relationships. I got a lot to draw on." Harvey, 55, joins a growing list of daytime TV hosts looking to fill the void left by Oprah Winfrey. Katie Couric and Ricki Lake will debut new shows this fall, and mainstays Ellen DeGeneres and Wendy Williams have been ren Stern made his prime time debut this year as a judge on "America's Got Talent;" Harvey hosts "Family Feud" and his daytime talk show, "The Steve Harvey Show," is set to premiere on September 4. "Steve is like that wise but funny uncle we all have," Dawn Davis, Harvey's publisher at Harper Collins said. That personality goes a long way, said Premiere Networks President Julie Talbott whose company syndicates "The Steve Harvey Show" on radio across the country to 7 million listeners. "Steve Harvey's audience growth and ratings have been consistently impressive," Talbott said. "His passion for entertaining has allowed him to connect with people across multiple platforms. He's truly a renaissance man." As one of "The Original Kings of Comedy," he is used to trying to connect with audiences, but he recently retired from stand-up, claiming, "Comedy isn't what it used to be. There are not the venues available for these young acts to hone their skills and talents, which is really a shame. It's like musicians have become a dying breed; comedians have, too."

Christina Aguilera is proud of her booty

4:22 PM |
Christina Aguilera

Christina Aguilera is proud to be bootylicious. While shooting the music video for her song "Your Body" recently, she had on an outrageous getup, which included a pink wig, sky-high stripper stilettos, and enough rings to accessorize you and all your friends. But it was the dress that was most eye-catching. We noted that the mesh-laden mini was "literally bursting at the seams" when we first saw the photos.

As you can tell, the 31-year-old pop star loves her curves — and in a new interview with Lucky magazine she talks about her body, which has evolved from the earlier days in her successful career. (Remember when she used to dress her stick thin frame in chaps and underwear that said "Dirrty" on the bum?) "Actually, the challenge I've always had is being too thin, so I love that now I have a booty, and obviously I love showing my cleavage," she confesses. The singer also encourages fellow curvy girls to flaunt their figures. "Hey, if you can work it and you can own it, that confidence is going to shine through."

Aguilera's eclectic sense of style is definitely on display when she sits in her spinny chair on NBC's reality series "The Voice." "I have always loved dressing up, being theatrical," she says of her over-the-top looks. So what fashion item couldn't she live without? That would be Christian Louboutin heels, which she calls the "sexiest shoes," and notes, "As the years go by, his heels get taller and taller." She also reveals the secret to her perfect red pout: Terry Baume de Rose. "This treatment helps my signature red lip to be smooth and flawless," she shares.

The divorced singer, who is now dating musician Matthew Rutler, is working on a new still-untitled album — her first since 2010's Bionic. She recently said it will reflect, "everything I've experienced up until this point. .. I've been through a lot since the release of my last album, being on ['The Voice'], having had a divorce. This is all sort of a free rebirth for me." She elaborates in Lucky, noting, "If you love 'Fighter,'" which is her 2003 song, "you're going to love my new album. As a [woman in my 30s], I've been uncovering my independence, and it's been really fun to explore in the new songs."

Aguilera, who is mom to 4-year-old Max, is glad that her days as a rising star are behind her because she felt like she was being controlled and a certain image was being forced upon her."When you're young, it's so easy to get bull-dozed," she says. "There were these two ladies who worked at the record label who always wanted to come to fittings and dress me up like a Barbie doll. It was disgusting." Fortunately, releasing her album Stripped — which included "Beautiful," one of her most popular songs of all time, as well as the aforementioned "Dirrty"— changed all that. Talking about the success of that album, she recalls, "I was 21 and fearless. It was a really great turning point for me to be the artist I'd always wanted to be."

And now that Aguilera is the artist she always wanted to be, she enjoys helping aspiring singers on "The Voice," which will return for a second season on September 10. "It's a big responsibility to help someone express themselves as an artist," she says. "I take it seriously."

Channel O Music Video Awards Release Nominee List

6:33 PM |

Camp Mulla lead the pack of nominees ahead of the Channel O Music Video Awards, with the Kenyan pop group grabbing four nominations. D’banj, Brymo, Ice Prince & Davido lead the way for Nigeria, each having two nominations apiece, and 2Face & Flavour battle it out for Most Gifted R&B video.

Tiwa Savage’s Love Me 3x will also be going up against self-acclaimed Princess of Pop, Mo’Cheddah’s See Me for Most Gifted Female Video.

Africa’s foremost urban music channel, Channel O announced the nominees for its prestigious 9th Annual Music Video Awards on Friday, 31 August 2012.

Spread across 14 categories, this year’s Channel O Music Video Awards are a showcase of Original.African music – befitting to the music channel that has steadfastly flown the flag for Africa’s musicians and music for well over a decade.

“We continue to recognise and acknowledge the magnitude of African music and musicians. The nominations in this year’s awards are yet another reflection of how Channel O is celebrating African musical talent, how it keeps growing from strength to strength and how we keep striving to stay Original African,” says Leslie Kasumba, Channel O Africa Manager.

Now in its 9th year, the Channel O Music Video Awards is the only public-voted annual music video awards show broadcast around the continent that exclusively features African artists. Starting in 2004 with an event at M-Net’s Johannesburg offices, the annual Channel O Music Video Awards has grown to be the Original.African channel’s signature event. 2012 will see the awards taking place on Saturday, 17th November at Walter Sisulu Square in Kliptown, bringing the Channel O Music Video Awards to Soweto, Johannesburg, South Africa for the first time.

With five nominees in most of the genres as well as regional categories and 10 in the running for the prestigious Most Gifted Video of the Year title, Channel O’s viewers can now have their say by voting in one of the biggest public-voted music awards event in Africa.

This year voting will take place across a wide suite of digital platforms – from SMS [artist voting code to the number +27 83 920 8406. Standard SMS rates apply] to MXit, Web [www.channelo.tv] and Wap. Facebook voting [http://www.facebook.com/channelotv] is also now possible, increasing voting options to the whole continent and underlining where the pulse of Africa’s youth lies!

Among the leading multiple nominees are Kenyan hip hop hotshots, Camp Mulla who have matched their Flight of the Fish Eagle – Naturally Supreme Most Gifted Newcomer Video and Most Gifted African East Video nominations for “Party Don’t Stop” (featuring Collo) with a high-profile nomination in the Most Gifted Video of the Year category for the video for “Fresh All Day”.

The latter video also sees Camp Mulla in contention for the Most Gifted Duo, Group or Featuring Video category where they are up against a powerful pack of artists – South Africans MiCasa (“Heavenly Sent”) and Liquideep (“Still”) as well as Zimbabwe’s Buffalo Souljah ft Cabo Snoop (“Styra Inonyengesa”) and Nigerian superstars, P Square (“Chop My Money” featuring Akon and Mayd).

Another newcomer earning more than one nomination is fiercely indie and genre-defying South African artist, Toya Delazy who matches her Flight of the Fish Eagle – Naturally Supreme Most Gifted Newcomer Video nomination for “Pump It On” with one for Most Gifted Video of the Year. Delazy and Camp Mulla are joined on the Flight of the Fish Eagle – Naturally Supreme Most Gifted Newcomer Video category by Nigeria’s Davido (for “Dami Duro”), Ghana’s E.L. (“Turn The Lights Down”) and South Africa’s Donald (“I Deserve”).

Two of the most closely watched categories at the annual Channel O Music Video Awards are traditionally Most Gifted Male Video and Most Gifted Female Video – and this year is no different.

In 2012, one of the awards’ leading nominees, South Africa’s Khuli Chana is in the running for Most Gifted Male for his video “Tswa Daar” featuring Notshi – a video that has also seen the rapper earn nominations for Most Gifted Hip Hop Video and Most Gifted Video of the Year. Going up against Khuli Chana for Most Gifted Male are Angola’s Big Nelo with “Sente O Beat”, South Africa’s Pro with “Makasana”, Nigeria’s D’Banj with “Oliver Twist” and Tanzania’s Ay for “Speak With Your Body” featuring Romeo and Lamyia.

Most Gifted Female Video is likely to prove as hotly fought as its male counterpart.

Leading the charge is multiple nominee, Mozambique’s Lizha James with her video “Leva Boy” featuring Perola. James, who is also in the running for Most Gifted R&B Video and Most Gifted Video of the Year, faces competition from Nigeria’s “Tiwa Savage” with “Love Me Love Me Love Me”, Nigeria’s Mo’Cheddah featuring Phenom with “See Me”, Uganda’s Keko featuring Maddraxx with “Make You Dance” and breakout South African star Zahara with her megahit “Loliwe”.

Voting opens midnight on Saturday, 1 September for fans to have their say on who should take the ultimate crown in African music. It closes at midnight on Thursday, 8th November.

Voting is available on these platforms:

Kanye West Struggling With The Word 'Bitch'

4:28 PM |
Seems like Kanye West has a lot on his mind lately. On Saturday night, Yeezy and his G.O.O.D. Music cohorts partied with Jay-Z at the Made in America Festival in Philadelphia, but on Sunday (September 2), 'Ye served fans with some food for thought.

"I usually never tweet questions but I struggle with this so here goes... Is the word BITCH acceptable," he wrote earlier today before following up with another question.

"Is it acceptable for a man to call a woman a bitch even if it's endearing," Yeezy's train of thought began after someone questioned him about the use of the word bitch in his music. "Initially was offended by anyone questioning anything in my music," 'Ye admitted in his timeline.

The MC's 20-message dissertation pondered the use of the b-word as well as the taboo N-word in music and society as a whole. The VMA-winning rap artist didn't have many answers, but rather seemed to want to spark a discussion. Kanye even sent out a link to Lupe Fiasco's "Bitch Bad" video, which Lu premiered on the August 22 episode of MTV News' "RapFix Live" before hosting a roundtable discussion about the controversial clip and overall use of the word bitch.

"Is it ok to use bitch as long as we put BAD in front of it? Like you a BAD BITCH," Kanye wondered aloud before he revealed he at times edits his lyrics in an effort to be less offensive. "I will admit that I sometimes go back an omit cursing from my records. I like to use profanity as a tool and not a crutch."

It doesn't seem as if Kanye will shy away from the word bitch on his upcoming Cruel Summer, the G.O.O.D. Music LP. On a song titled "Perfect Bitch," Yeezy toasts to his main squeeze Kim Kardashian, who has said she is flattered by the track.

Near the close of his Twitter-spree, West hadn't come to a conclusion about whether or not people should use the word bitch. "I'm not tweeting to say what we need and what we don't...," he wrote. "I just wanted to think out loud with you guys today."

Do you think we should eliminate the word bitch from our collective vocabulary? Sound off in the comments.

Rihanna Reveals her feelings for Chris Brown to Oprah

4:52 AM |
Rihanna and Oprah
In a tear-filled interview with Oprah, Rihanna revealed she’s wholeheartedly forgiven Chris Brown! Read on for more details! Rihanna has officially let go of her anger towards Chris Brown.

In an interview with Oprah on August 19th, the 24-year-old singer cried to Oprah and told her that she’s found it in herself to forgive Chris for physically abusing her in 2009.

“I have [forgiven him]. It’s taken a long time,” Rihanna told Oprah during their interview for Oprah’s Next Chapter. Rihanna went on to say she’s happier now that she’s forgiven him. “I was in a dark place and it was coming out in my music, in my clothes, in my attitude.

I didn’t like that feeling. It was heavy,” she said. However, it wasn’t until Rihanna forgave her own father for physically abusing her mother that she was able to forgive Chris. With that being said, RiRi has truly moved on from the hurt and anger she once harbored. “I mean I have to move on,” she told Oprah, crying. But that doesn’t mean she’s fallen out of love with Chris. Rihanna revealed in the interview that she’s still in love with him and that he was the love of her life.

“I think he was the love of my life. He was the first love and I see that he loved me the same way,” she told Oprah. We’re happy to hear that she’s forgiven him and in a happier place. Rihanna was so courageous to open up so honestly to Oprah!

I’m Happy As Long As Chris Brown Is At Peace
Rihanna revealed how deeply she still loves Chris Brown and how selfless she is about it in an interview with Oprah on August 19th! Read on for more details! Rihanna’s been through a lot with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, but one thing’s for sure: she just wants him to be happy.

Even though he physically abused her in February 2009, the 24-year-old singer has forgiven him and only wants him to be “at peace.” Rihanna told Oprah that Chris was dealing with a lot of pain and hurt during the time he attacked her, and that now she just wants him to be happy.
“I truly love him. The main thing for me is that he’s at peace. I’m not at peace if he’s a little unhappy or still lonely. I care. It actually matters that he finds that peace,” Rihanna told Oprah during their interview for Oprah’s Next Chapter.

She also said that even though it’s taken a long time, she’s forgiven him for hurting her. “I have [forgiven him]. It’s taken a long time,” Rihanna said. But even though she still loves him, they aren’t back together. “We’ve built a trust again and that’s it. We love each other and we probably always will,” Rihanna said. Hmm! We were so happy to see Rihanna open up so honestly to Oprah.
