Brooklyn Beckham looks dashing as he supports girlfriend Chloe Grace Moretz at premiere! See the pics here!

5:22 AM |

Los Angeles - Brooklyn Beckham supported his new girlfriend Chloe Grace Mortez at the If I Stay premiere on Wednesday.

The 15-year-old aspiring model - the eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham - walked the red carpet at the movie event at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood in support of the 17-year-old actress, who plays the main character in the film.

Brooklyn - who is thought to have been dating Chloe for the past three months - looked dashing in a navy suit which he teamed with a pair of white trainers.

Chloe looked elegant in a Schiaparelli dress and a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes as she was joined by her co-stars Jamie Blackley and Liana Liberato on the red carpet.

The drama movie tells the story of Chloe's character Mia Hall who goes through an out-of-body experience in which she has to make a tough decision after a car crash puts her in a coma.
Brooklyn's attendance at the film premiere comes after he and Chloe both went to the Teen Choice Awards together earlier this month.

While their joint attendance appeared to confirm they were in a relationship, the pair didn't walk the blue carpet together as the model skipped that part of the event.
Chloe and Brooklyn first sparked rumours they were dating earlier this month after they were spotted skateboarding together on numerous occasions.

Why Half of a Yellow Sun is a special, relevant proposition

4:49 AM |

Half-of-a-Yellow-Sun-poster-403x600
So much has been said and written about Half of a Yellow Sun, the movie adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s award-winning book of the same name, a story primarily focused on the Nigerian civil war.

Opinions differ on whether or not it was right for the National Film and Video Censor’s Board to withhold the movie from the Nigerian public for as long as it did.

Exploring on one hand the lives of Olanna (Thandie Newton) and Kainene (Anika Rose), glamorous twins born into a wealthy Nigerian family from the southern part of the country, and on the other,  the complex exigencies that are thrown up in the country following the outbreak of the civil war, Half of a Yellow Sun comes as a complete package.

Having just returned to Nigeria from the United Kingdom a few years after the country’s independence in 1960′s Nigeria, the paths the twins are to take are carefully laid out by their affluent parents. That is until Olanna shocks her family by going to live with her fiance Odenigbo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), who is a lecturer at the newly-established University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

But when Mama (Onyeka Onwenu), Odenigbo’s mother comes into the picture, a markedly unbearable tension begins to build between the pair, especially with Mama’s pointedly damaging accusation that Olanna is a witch.

A complex unfolding of events leaves the characters reeling and dealing with personal demons, even as the civil war and events surrounding it throw them into physical danger.

The movie features some of Nigeria’s finest actors, such as Tina Mba, Onyeka Onwenu, Gloria Young, O.C Ukeje, Genevieve Nnaji, Zack Orji, Jude Orhoa and the Hollywood contingent, including Chiwetel Ejiofor, Anika Rose, Thandie Newton, John Boyega, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Joseph Mawle, Rob David and Wale Ojo.

Being the biggest budget movie to be associated with Nigeria and clearly the most anticipated on the Nigerian cinema scene, it is not for nothing that Half of a Yellow Sun is commanding so much attention at cinemas across the country.

Whatever people say, the film, directed by Biyi Bandele, actor and filmmaker; is a daring effort, which will always have a strong sense of attachment for those with a profound sense of history and those who appreciate their identities as Nigerians.

Uche Jombo: Abortion Scandal Story Forced Tears From My Eyes

6:56 AM |
Uche Jombo is one actress that has suffered a lot from negative stories. At a point, she was scandalized with an alleged abortion story, which shook the industry. She went to the extent of suing the magazine and journalist that published the story to a court of law.

Her reported failed relationship with Super Eagles footballer, Kalu Uche went viral in the media. Her eventual marriage to America-based Puerto Rican lover, Kenny Rodriguez was also marred by controversies, when it was secretly held in the USA.

The late release of the wedding pictures stirred controversies in the media again until she released them more than one month after the union was solemnized.

Speaking with Nigeriafilms.com on the story that forced tears out of her eyes, the Abiriba, Abia State-born movie star said that abortion was one of the stories that ‘achieved that aim’.

“I have had worse (the abortion story),” Uche Jombo said forcefully. “That one was just big because it was the one I took to court,” she continued, adding that, “because I don’t understand why anybody would sit down and fabricate something that would hurt another human being without any shrewd.”

“Even if you don’t have a sister, you might marry tomorrow and have a girl child. Anytime anybody writes, I always say, drop your pen and just imagine you being that person. If what you’ve written is the truth, you are justified. If it is not the truth, the person needs not go anywhere to swear for you, law of karma would just take care of you,” the actress-c*m-producer fumed.

Sexy Madonna Bares Butt to Raise Money for Hurricane Sandy Relief

1:42 AM |

Madonna on stage
Performing at Madison Square Garden on Monday, Nov. 12, the "Give Me All Your Luvin'" singer asked fans to give her something else -- cold hard cash.

But the money wasn't for her. It was for the victims of Hurricane Sandy in New Jersey and New York, where the Material Girl had spent some time earlier in the week.

"I went down to Rockaway Beach yesterday with my children, and we saw what was going on there, we saw the destruction," the 54-year-old mother of four said. "It was really sad, but we also saw amazing acts of humanity. People sharing with other people, people working hard, cleaning houses, handing out food, blankets, giving love."

The superstar then announced that she'd be helping in her own way -- by stripping. Taking off her top to reveal the words "No Fear" written on her back, she encouraged the audience to throw money at the stage as she performed a slowed-down version of "Like a Virgin."

"If you are going to look at the crack of my a--, you better raise some cash!" she yelled at her adoring fans, who responded by showering her with bills.

Of course, Madge isn't the only star putting her talents to charitable use. Other celebs are getting in on the Sandy action, too.

Michael Clarke Duncan dead at 54 after July heart attack

5:18 PM |
"The Green Mile"

Michael Clarke Duncan was one big, irresistible jumble of contradictions.

His presence was formidable, even intimidating: The former bodyguard had a muscular, 6-foot-4 frame, but it was topped by the brightest of megawatt smiles.

His gravelly baritone was well-suited to everything from animated films to action spectacles, but no matter the role, a warmth and a sweetness was always evident underneath.

The prolific character actor, whose dozens of movies included an Oscar-nominated performance as a death row inmate in "The Green Mile" and box office hits including "Armageddon," `'Planet of the Apes" and "Kung Fu Panda," died Monday at age 54. And although he only turned to acting in his 30s, it's clear from the outpouring of prayers and remembrances he received across the Hollywood and sports worlds that his gentle-giant persona made him much-loved during that relatively brief time.

Duncan died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he was being treated for a heart attack, said his fiance, reality TV personality Rev. Omarosa Manigault, in a statement released by publicist Joy Fehily.

Duncan "suffered a myocardial infarction on July 13 and never fully recovered," the statement said. "Manigault is grateful for all of your prayers and asks for privacy at this time. Celebrations of his life, both private and public, will be announced at a later date."

Tom Hanks, star of 1999's "The Green Mile" — the film that earned a then-little-known Duncan a supporting-actor nomination at the Academy Awards — said he was "terribly saddened at the loss of Big Mike. He was the treasure we all discovered on the set of `The Green Mile.' He was magic. He was a big love of man and his passing leaves us stunned."

"I will miss my friend, Michael Clarke Duncan," comedian and talk-show host Steve Harvey said on Twitter. "What an incredible soldier in God's Plan." Other sad and shocked reactions came from a diverse field that included Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, actresses Alexa Vega, Niecy Nash and Olivia Munn, and former boxing champion Lennox Lewis.

In the spring of 2012, Duncan had appeared in a video for PETA, the animal rights organization, in which he spoke of how much better he felt since becoming a vegetarian three years earlier.

"I cleared out my refrigerator, about $5,000 worth of meat," he said. "I'm a lot healthier than I was when I was eating meat."

Duncan had a handful of minor roles before "The Green Mile" brought him accolades and fame. The 1999 film, based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, starred Hanks as a corrections officer at a penitentiary in the 1930s. Duncan played John Coffey, a convicted murderer with a surprisingly gentle demeanor and extraordinary healing powers.

Duncan's performance caught on with critics and moviegoers and he quickly became a favorite in Hollywood, appearing in several films a year. He owed some of his good fortune to Bruce Willis, who recommended Duncan for "The Green Mile" after the two appeared together in "Armageddon." Duncan would work with Willis again in "Breakfast of Champions," `'The Whole Nine Yards" and "Sin City."

His industrial-sized build was suited for everything from superhero films ("Daredevil") to comedy ("Talladega Nights," `'School for Scoundrels"). He could have made a career out of his voice work alone, with appearances in several animated and family movies, including, "Kung Fu Panda," `'Racing Stripes" and "Brother Bear." Among Duncan's television credits were "The Apprentice," `'Two and a Half Men," "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody" and a new series, "The Finder."

Born in Chicago in 1957, Duncan was raised by a single mother whose resistance to his playing football led to his deciding he wanted to become an actor. But when his mother became ill, he dropped out of college, Alcorn State University, and worked as a ditch digger and bouncer to support her. By his mid-20s, he was in Los Angeles, where he looked for acting parts and became a bodyguard for Will Smith, Jamie Foxx and other stars. The murder of rapper Notorious B.I.G., for whom Duncan had been hired to protect before switching assignments, led him to quit his job and pursue acting full-time.

Early film and television credits, when he was usually cast as a bodyguard or bouncer, included "Bulworth," `'A Night at the Roxbury" and "The Players Club."

Michael Jackson copyright dispute settled

5:15 PM |
Michael Jackson - Thats it

Michael Jackson's estate settled a copyright dispute with a business partner of the late pop icon's mother Tuesday, just before a trial on the matter was to begin, lawyers said.

A federal judge had already ruled that Howard Mann and several associated companies violated Jackson's copyrights, which are controlled by his estate executors, and the only question for a jury was how much should be paid in damages.

The settlement, which gives the estate $2.5 million from the several companies involved, ends a bitter two-year fight between the estate and Mann, who partnered with Katherine Jackson on the book.

"In light of the court's rulings for the estate on summary judgment, this settlement seems appropriate for all concerned," estate lawyers Howard Weitzman and Zia Modabber said in a statement to CNN Tuesday.

Mann's company published Katherine Jackson's 150-page coffee table book "Never Can Say Goodbye, The Katherine Jackson Story" two years ago and established a website -- MichaelJacksonSecretVault.com -- that the estate argued illegally used Jackson's images and lyrics.

"This was a long, complex and difficult litigation that in the end will likely be equitable for Mrs. Jackson and the other parties involved," Mann said. "This settlement would not have been possible without Perry Sanders (Katherine Jackson's lawyer), who worked to bridge quite a distance."

"My client and all parties involved are served well by getting this wrapped up," said Sanders, who helped mediate the settlement this week.

Mann's involvement with the Jacksons began when he partnered with Henry Vaccaro, who bought a large amount of Jackson memorabilia purchased at an auction after Katherine and Joe Jackson's 1999 bankruptcy. A lien will be placed on those photos and other assets until a portion of the settlement is paid, a lawyer said.

Katherine Jackson was not a defendant, but her name and those of her husband, Joe Jackson, and children Janet, Randy, Tito and Jermaine Jackson were on the defense witness list.

The estate accused Mann of "wholesale misappropriation" of Michael Jackson copyrights and acting with "arrogant disregard" for the estate's rights by using unauthorized images.

While the estate claimed the book sold about 25,000 copies for $1.5 million in the first two days, Mann's lawyers contended "actual sales are very minimal and the defendant's businesses have suffered a major net loss."

The copyright violations also included screen shots from the "This Is It" documentary about the singer's last days and other "misappropriated" images, including Jackson's "Smooth Criminal Lean," which Mann's company used in its corporate logo.

Mann's website, which the judge already ordered to be taken offline, "does absolutely everything in its power to suggest to its visitors that it is the hub for all things Michael Jackson, and that it is sanctioned and supported by the estate, when in fact it is neither," the estate argued.

"Steve is like that wise but funny uncle we all have," Dawn Davis, Harvey's publisher at Harper Collins said. That personality goes a long way, said Premiere Networks President Julie Talbott whose company syndicates "The Steve Harvey Show" on radio across the country to 7 million listeners. "Steve Harvey's audience growth and ratings have been consistently impressive," Talbott said. "His passion for entertaining has allowed him to connect with people across multiple platforms. As one of "The Original Kings of Comedy," he is used to trying to connect with audiences, but he recently retired from stand-up, claiming, "Comedy isn't what it used to be. Johnny Depp made a splash at Comic-Con, and he wasn't even there.

About 6,000 fans at the San Diego Convention Center Thursday got the first look at "The Lone Ranger," which stars Depp as Tonto.

He wears long hair and full-face makeup to portray the Lone Ranger's Native American companion. The brief clip hinted at the character's craftiness, with one scene showing him riding beneath a speeding train. It also offered a peek at Armie Hammer as the Lone Ranger and Helena Bonham Carter as a dame of interest, amid a backdrop of trains crossing the Western desert. Jerry Bruckheimer is producing the film.

Disney unveiled the footage at the conclusion of its panel presentation that included glimpses of Tim Burton's "Frankenweenie," Sam Raimi's "Oz: The Great and Powerful" and the video-game romp "Wreck-It Ralph," which features the voices of Sarah Silverman and John C. Reilly.

"The Lone Ranger" is directed by Gore Verbinski, who worked with Depp on the first three "Pirates of the Caribbean" films and the animated "Rango." It is set for release next summer.

Comic-Con continues through Sunday.

Johnny Depp Reveals Which of His Roles Was Inspired by George Bush

2:46 PM |
Johnny Depp                 George Bush

In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, the Dark Shadows star explains why he based his turn as Willy Wonka on the former POTUS

Since first teaming up for 1990's Edward Scissorhands, Johnny Depp  and director Tim Burton have crafted some of the most indelible and off-kilter characters in modern cinema. And none has a more interesting inspiration than crazed candy maker Willy Wonka in 2005's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: former President George W. Bush.

"Certain ingredients you add to these characters," 48-year-old Depp -- whose eighth collaboration with Burton, Dark Shadows, hits theaters May 11 -- said during an interview that aired on Tuesday's The Ellen DeGeneres Show. "Like Willy Wonka for example, I imagined what George Bush would be like incredibly stoned and thus was born my version of Willy Wonka." (Watch the interview below!)

Depp, who has also drawn inspiration from Rolling Stones  musician Keith Richards (he based Pirates of the Caribbean's Captain Jack Sparrow on him), says that it doesn't take him too long to figure out his way into a character.

"Generally like within the first 10 pages of a script, something clicks, something hits, and you feel like there's something that you can add to the piece that might not have done before," he told Ellen DeGeneres. "And then the images start to come. The look starts to come."

So who -- or what -- was the inspiration for his turn as the sharp-fingered title character in Edward Scissorhands?

"Scissorhands was a combination. It was the idea of like a newborn, really like a newborn seeing things for the first time, and also a dog that I'd had. This dog that I'd had where sort of this unconditional love, this sort purity in my dog, those were his basic ingredients," he explained. "There was something very safe in being that open to things and seeing things as very new."

It seems like Depp and Burton will continue to have a long and prosperous relationship together, especially with good advanced buzz for Dark Shadows. In addition to the three previously mentioned roles, Depp has also worked with Burton in Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow, Corpse Bride, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Alice in Wonderland.

Perhaps not surprisingly, in a new interview with U.K. newspaper The Sun, Depp claims that he owes his career to Burton.

"Tim had to fight to give me the lead role in Edward Scissorhands in 1990 when I was still unknown, and he's always stood by me, even when things weren't going well later in my career," Depp says. "If it hadn't been for Tim, I would probably be a minor actor working in horror B movies."

He continues: "I owe him so much because he believed in me from the beginning. I would play any role in any film that he asked me to do purely out of gratitude."

So let's hope Burton asks Depp to play the title role in Tim Burton's George W. Bush: The Stoner President of Pennsylvania Avenue. We'd certainly pay to see that.

The superstar singer passed away suddenly, her publicist confirms. How tragic.

11:37 AM |
Whitney Houston has died at age 48, her publicist confirmed on Feb. 11.

Although the cause of death has not been revealed, Jill Fritzo, a publicist of Whitney’s, told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that she had passed away, saying, “unfortunately, true.”

Houston died at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and l employees, tell TMZ .com … Whitney Houston was found dead in the bathtub of her room. As of 1 am  set Feb 12, Houston’s body was still at the hotel, police sources confirmed to Hollywoodlife.com.

Sources say there were no obvious signs of foul play, but BHPD detectives have launched a full investigation. L.A. County Coroner Ed Winter tells HollywoodLife.com that it is too early in the investigation to tell what happened.

Whitney was one of the best-selling pop artists of all time, with over 55 million records sold in the United States alone. Furthermore, she had great success acting, with star-making turns in films such as the smash hit The Bodyguard , and Waiting To Exhale.

She was also known for her tumultuous relationship with her ex-husband Bobby Brown. Upon hearing of Whitney death, Bobby immediately began calling friends and family.

“He wanted to tell everyone about it before it hit the news,” one of his relatives told PEOPLE magazine. “He didn’t want any of us to hear about it on television.”

As Brown spoke to family members, the shock of Houston’s sudden death turned to grief. “He could hardly get the words out when he called me,” says the relative. “He was sobbing, and by the end of the call, I was sobbing too. He’s beside himself right now.”

Brown learned the news about his ex-wife while in Memphis, where he is currently on location for a New Edition concert. He is “shattered and beyond devastated,” says the source.

CNN spoke to Johnny Gill who is in Memphis with Bobby Brown for a New Edition concert. He told them: “Bobby is struggling and devastated” at hearing that Whitney has died. He has apparently spoken to their daughter Bobbi Kristina, 18, who Hollywoodlife.com has learned was with Whitney in Los Angeles and was “not doing well” Brown said.

Houston’s passing was confirmed by her publicist, and Beverly Hills Police Lieut. Mark Rosen said on Saturday, Feb 11,  that the 48-year-old singer “was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m. this afternoon at the Beverly Hilton Hotel,” following a 3:43 p.m. call from hotel security.

The best-selling pop artist wed soul crooner Bobby Brown in 1992 in a marriage that surprised many, given Brown’s bad-boy reputation. The following year, the couple welcomed a daughter, Bobbi Kristina.

After a tumultuous relationship that included a charge of domestic abuse against Brown in 1993, the two divorced in 2007.

Despite their breakup, the couple remained friendly, a relative of Bobby Brown’s tells HollywoodLife.com,  ”They had Bobbi Kristina in common, and were determined to be co-parents to her. They didn’t hate each other. In fact, there was a lot of respect. So this has hit Bobby really hard. He is devastated. He loved her very much. This is a very sad time for him.”

She leaves behind a daughter, Bobbi Kristina. The last time Houston was seen publicly was at a pre-Grammys party, Feb. 9, where she sang , ‘Jesus, Loves You”.

Her professional mentor Clive Davis did not cancel his annual pre-Grammys party  held at the Beverly  Hilton – the same hotel where Whitney died- in Los Angeles tonight although a source tells Hollywoodlife.com that he did not attend. He has said:  ”Whitney had one of the best voices of all time!” But guests at the party told Hollywoodlife.com that it was more like a funeral, than a party.

Several celebrities tweeted about the death shortly after the news went public, including Justin Bieber who wrote, “Just heard the news. so crazy. One of the GREATEST VOICES EVER just passed. RIP Whitney Houston. My prayers go out to her friends and family I am sadden to hear of the passing of Whitney Houston today…”

Miley Cyrus tweeted, “I LOVE Whitney : ( I’m not turning my tv on. just gonna stay @ home & listen 2 her records.

The X Factor’s Melanie Amaro tweeted, “I love u sooo much Whitney Houston :’( u will always be in my heart and my mind an my soul your music made me the girl I am today :(”

Aretha Franklin said, “I just can’t talk about it now. It’s so stunning and unbelievable. I couldn’t believe what I was reading coming across the TV screen. My heart goes out to Cissy (Houston’s mother), her daughter Bobbi Kris, her family and Bobby (Brown).”

Dolly Parton, who wrote “I Will Always Love You,”  Whitney’s greatest hit song, said, “mine is only one of the millions of hearts broken over the death of Whitney Houston. I will always be grateful and in awe of the wonderful performance she did on my song and I can truly say from the bottom of my heart, ‘Whitney, I will always love you. You will be missed.’”

Quincy Jones, said he was “absolutely heartbroken…She was a true original and a talent beyond compare.”

Singer Keri Hilson  wrote, “Watching the news now…it’s true. R.I.P. Whitney Houston. Ugh I hate that I’m even typing this…I’m shocked. She was my hero growing up.”

Actress Nina Dobrev also tweeted, writing, “#iwillalwaysloveyou is one of the most beautiful and iconic songs. It will be remembered forever. Rest in peace Whitney Houston.”

President of the Recording Academy Neil Portnow released a statement saying, “Six-time Grammy winner Whitney Houston was one of the world’s greatest pop singers of all time who leaves behind a robust musical soundtrack spanning the past three decades. Her powerful voice graced many memorable and award-winning songs. A light has been dimmed in our music community today, and we extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, fans and all who have been touched by her beautiful voice.”

We will miss Whitney’s talent, which she displayed in amazing songs like “I Will Always Love You.”

Just in…according to TMZ, Beverly Hills police have sealed off the room where Whitney Houston died and will not enter until they obtain a search warrant .
