For any actor winning an award of this calibre is the pinnacle of their career, but for many small screen stars the winged statuette has eluded them.
Funnyman Steve Carrell was nominated six years in a row for his role in
The Office as Michael Scott, but never managed to bag a win.

Hugh Laurie
Nominated a whopping six times for the absolutely brilliant portrayal of the very sharp Dr Gregory House, Laurie just didn’t make the cut.

Jon Hamm
For his role as Don Draper in
Mad Men and a guest appearance on
30 Rock, Jon got nominated nine times yet the statute still eludes him.

Amy Poehler
One of our all time favourite actresses has lost out seven times. Amy has been nominated for her roles in
SNL and
Parks and Recreation. Here’s hoping she strikes it lucky this time around.

Angela Lansbury
Possibly the biggest shocker on the list! One of TV’s most brilliant stars, Lansbury received 18 Emmy nominations - 12 of them for playing Jessica Fletcher in
Murder She Wrote. Despite winning five Tonys and six Golden Globes, she has never won an Emmy.

Kim Cattrall
Deep down every woman who watched
Sex and The City wanted to have a bit of Samantha in her. Her co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Cynthia Nixon bagged the award. However, despite being nominated five times an Emmy never came her way.

Michael C Hall
For playing the serial killer with a conscience on
Dexter, Michael C Hall was nominated for an Emmy every year since 2008 making the tally six in total. He has not managed to wrap up an Emmy win, yet.

Ed O'Neill and Katy Segal
TV’s most loved couple, Al Bundy and Peggy Bundy, who were totally awesome in
Married with Children have both never won an Emmy. Ed and Katy went on to do some brilliant acting in
Modern Family and
Sons of Anarchy respectively. Ed has been nominated thrice for his role in
Modern Family. Katy on the other hand has never even been nominated for an Emmy.

Phylicia Rashad
Best known for her role as Claire Huxtable in
The Cosby Show, it is hard to believe that she was nominated twice for playing the matriarch. She received another Emmy nod in 2008 for her role in
A Raisin in the Sun, but again did not win.

Jerry Seinfeld
Another big surprise! In 2013 TV Guide ranked
Seinfeld as the greatest TV show of our time. The show itself was nominated a whopping 68 times of which it only won 10 times. The star of the show has been nominated five times but has never taken home an Emmy. This will go down as one of TV’s biggest mysteries.
