D'banj launched a platform for creative people called Cream Platform.

1:46 PM |
It was reported that Nigerian superstar D'banj had left the Mike Adenuga led telco GLO for the rival MTN telecommunications outfit.
Later in the day D'banj confirmed these reports to be true by announcing his new venture with MTN on his Instagram page. The 'Oliver Twist' singer has entered a venture (via his record label DKM) with MTN to create a platform for creative people called Cream Platform.

"A partnership with MTN and DKM to launch a platform of Visible hope for the creative industry where Creative contents will be found , housed , financed , nurtured , published , marketed , distributed and Sold with track-able Monitoring by Content owners without leaving their comfort zones. Supported by Bank of Industry" announced D'banj on his Instagram page.

The Cream Platform kicked off yesterday and D'banj claims that over 32,000 entries were registered on it.

In 2009 D'banj signed an endorsement deal with GLO and it was reported to be worth N70m. The following year D'banj reportedly asked for more money which ultimately led to the telco dumping him and signing Psquare for a contract worth over N100m.

3 years later D'banj bumped into Chief Mike Adenuga which led to the singer re-signing with the telco. His endorsement deal with GLO has now expired and the telecommunications outfit is not enthusiastic on extending D'banj's contract.

Last month D'banj made the headlines over his supposed marriage to a mystery woman later identified as Lineo Didi Kilgrow. The pop star has not confirmed or denied that he is married.

Dbanj showing Amber Rose his Awards at his 10th Anniversary Event

6:05 AM |

amber rose

Just when we thought the show was taking forever to start, Amber Rose and D’banj arrived on the red carpet in their all-black outfits and we were left wondering if we didn’t get the memo that says: ‘All-black.’

With all the half nude pictures we had seen of her lately, we almost assumed she’d step out in one of those daring and jaw-breaking pieces but this time, Amber Rose covered up and truly left something to our imagination.

The model and mother of one wore a floor-length stretchy black dress with a plunging neckline, and the back was quite open. She looked beautiful as ever, with her curves very noticeable.

With her smile, we could tell she was out to catch a lot of fun.

The Truth with D’Banj Watch as the Part 2

3:44 AM |

timthumb
The first part of D’Banj’s interview with Olisa Adibua was released a few days ago and now the second part of the interview is out!
In the second part, available exclusively on Olisa.tv, D’Banj opens up about much more personal details including his debt rumours, working with Don Jazzy again, endorsing GEJ in 2011 and so much more.
The video is over 40 minutes but here are some of the topics covered in the chat.
  • D’Banj said that Don Jazzy told him that whenever he hears his (D’Banj’s) voice on the radio he always changes the station, that statement, D’banj said, was very hurtful. It hurt him so bad that he left his house and sought refuge in a hotel and then moved on to South Africa
  • He never expected Oliver Twist to be such a huge hit and was in South Africa when it blew up in London and he had to rush over there. He believes the song’s sudden success was God’s way of taking him away from all the drama back home in Nigeria
  • The deal with Kanye West was not completed at this stage however Kanye was so impressed with the song that he agreed to make an appearance in the video. As Kanye is an ‘action man’ as D’Banj calls him, they shot the video straight away while still in London
  • D’Banj knows that everyone wants him and Don Jazzy to work together again and thinks there is a possible of that happening, if the price is right. He bumped into Don Jazzy in America and they discussed the possibility of a reunion, a business reunion. Don Jazzy told him that it would have to be for the right money for that to ever happen.
  • ‘A friend in need is a burglar in the future’ was D’banj response to Olisa’s question on if the duo would get back to being friends!
  • In response to questions about his public support of President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011, D’Banj vehemently refuted suggestions that he had been paid for the interview. He stated that he had himself requested the interview and that he felt that it was the right thing for him to do as a man and citizen of Nigeria
  • He admitted that he got paid, but for his work as a musician
  • He felt that the backlash he got at that time was unfortunate as he was put through ‘heat, fire and hell’.
  • He wouldn’t be tied down to answering whether he would do the same again this time round as he is ‘unavailable’ right now and travels a lot.
  • The conversation between D’Banj and Olisa became very heated when Olisa started questioning D’Banj on the state of his career since Oliver Twist
  • He strongly denied allegations that he did not write Top of the World and said it was a big hit which he really loves and questioned Olisa on who determines what makes a big hit anyway and if his show is The Lie not The Truth
  • D’Banj insisted that he had had great success since leaving Mo’Hits. He won awards, traveled the world, had the highest downloaded song in 2013 and reached the point where he wanted to expand and do something new. He made clear that that just because he hasn’t been spending all his time in Nigeria doesn’t mean that he has not been successful
  • Denied that his new song ‘Feeling the Nigga’ was written for Akon and that he made a cameo appearance in it. Said that Akon is in the remix and that they are both his songs. D’Banj became very irate at Olisa’s insinuations and threatened to walk out of the interview if he didn’t admit that the song was his
  • Olisa asked what happened with D’Banj’s Koko mobile phone and why it hasn’t been seen in the market but he refused to go into this topic in any depth. He said that the phone sold out and hinted at a deal with Apple which he cannot talk much about due to contractual limitations
  • He also has a deal with Beat’s by Dre and the headphones will be released soon (hopefully by Easter) in Africa
  • Olisa asked D’Banj about the various rumours, allegations and court actions against him claiming that he has unpaid debts amongst other things. D’Banj said that he has been advised by lawyers to not speak about this in detail but made it very clear that he doesn’t owe anybody any money
  • Financially, the past two years have been some of his best years, despite Olisa trying to allege that he has not been successful during this time
  • He dismissed the people that have left him and no longer want to work with him and said that the people that left were not meant to be there in the first place
  • He revealed that he had recently had a friend/business associate arrested because he found out that one of his investments was mismanaged to the cost of around $2m. The person had gone behind his back and committed fraud but said the police is now dealing with the matter. He advised young people who are going into business to be very careful with documents and make sure that all papers are always properly signed
  • He refused to answer any questions about women or his personal relationships as it has gotten him in too much trouble in the past and also refused to give a clear-cut answer as to whether he had a relationship with Genevieve
  • January 31 there will be a release party in Lagos for his 10 year anniversary and other celebrations will take place across the world. The celebrations will take the form of parties in clubs and concerts. Following the party in Lagos there will be a celebration in February in Dubai, then South Africa, Malaysia and London and it will finish in December with a Koko concert
  • Olisa got him to apologise for the debacle that was his KOKO Concert, which held at Eco Atlantic in 2012.
You can check out the video here.

‘Tiwa Savage and Seyi Shay should be scared of me’ – May7ven...

3:07 AM |
May7ve at D'banj Apollo Concert
The UK-based singer is currently in Nigeria promoting her new song ‘What Ya Feeling’ produced by Tee-Y Mix.

NET cornered her for a chat, and she tells our correspondent she is the pioneer and pathfinder for new school female pop divas.
May7ven says she’s not scared of the competition at all. ‘I never see it as a competition’ she explains. ‘I know when I started, I know why a lot of females are now here. The likes of Seyi Shay and Tiwa Savage were all with me in London when I did ‘Bo Aso Lara mi’, so I influenced majority of them to be doing what they are doing now.

‘There always has to be a leader, someone who starts and creates things, and that’s how I see myself already. So the style I’m doing now, I guarantee you in another two years you’ll find another set of Tiwa Savage doing what I’m doing. I’ve always been an innovator and you can interview any of them, they’ll tell you the same thing so they maybe threatened that I’m around and not the other way round’.

It’ll interest you to know that May7ven once managed Tiwa Savage many years back in the UK. ‘Yea, we grew up together. She was in my younger sister’s class, I’m a year older than both of them and there was this competition we were part of, I was 12 years old at the time, and I managed the group and sang with them as well, we were five girls in the group and we came out joint winners with a male group. I managed the group till we were about 16. I have everything on film and one day I’ll possibly leak the videos (laughs), but I remember Tiwa was always singing, out of all of us, she sang the most while I was more focused on singing and dancing at the same time, she’s always been passionate about music’ she said. Speaking on her relationship with Tiwa savage at the moment, May7ven said, ‘We still talk, when I’m in town I call her, when she’s in London they come to see me. We are not tight as in calling ourselves every day, the music business we are in doesn’t allow us to do that, but we are still cool, I’m her older sister’....

Ruggedman and Wande Coal cooking a new single

8:22 AM |

Ruggedman Photo: Instagram
Ruggedman exploded on the scene years ago by dissing many artistes. Photo: Filed

Having been displaced by several upcoming acts, rapper Ruggedman recently made another effort to bounce back.

That effort is personified by his new single Agidi in which the rapper, who shook the Nigerian music industry to its foundation with diss songs targeted at an umber of established stars, features Wande Coal.

But unlike the other songs that Ruggedman has released or even featured on in the past, the song is totally dominated by the Black Diamond Boss.

In the song, a 2-minute snippet which surfaced online on Friday, August 15, Wande Coal’s voice is easily recognisable in the song while Ruggedman’s voice is almost missing, unlike other songs he had dropped in the past like Opomulero, Ehen, Peace or War and others.

The rapper has however confirmed the leak is an unfinished version. Hopefully, he will make his voice heard on the final cut.

Is something brewing between Ruggedman and Maheeda?
The question can only be answered by both musicians, who were spotted together on Wednesday, August 13, 2014, in Lagos.

Maheeda paid the rapper a visit and the two couldn’t help but shower affection on each other, posting pictures of their time together on Instagram and Twitter.

However, a source says the two are looking at working together on a song, which is the reason they’ve been spending time together.
